Sublimation tumblers are one of our most popular products, and for good reason — they make amazing personalized gifts and are perfect for everyday use. If you’re new to sublimation or want more consistent results, these five tips will help you achieve bright, vibrant, and long-lasting designs every time!
1. Use a Clean, High-Quality Tumbler
Start with a sublimation-ready tumbler that has a polymer coating. Make sure it’s clean and free of dust, fingerprints, or oils for the best transfer.
2. Wrap Tightly and Securely
Use heat-resistant tape to keep your design snug against the tumbler. A tight wrap prevents ghosting and ensures a crisp, even transfer.
3. Use the Right Temperature and Time
Most 20 oz tumblers work well at 385–400°F for 50–60 seconds (depending on your press). Always follow your tumbler and press manufacturer’s recommendations.
4. Let It Cool Completely
After pressing, carefully remove the paper and let the tumbler cool before handling or adding the lid. This helps prevent smudging and gives you the best results.
5. Add the Finishing Touches
Inspect your tumbler for any areas that need a little extra pressing (if using a traditional press). Add the lid, straw, and an optional straw topper for a fun, complete look!
